Confession – it all starts with love (again)

One year onEverything I’ve read about the Sacrament of Reconciliation is that it all starts with love. God loves us, sin starts to inhibit our love of God.

I’m off to a training day today to learn more about it. In the meantime, try this.

It’s a bit quiet, but I’m posting this early…..

Or here’s the original, for those of you who have 1980’s memories

So we had our training on the ministry of reconciliation – rather too much role play for my liking, but the unpacking of 2 Corinthians 5:14 – 6:2 was helpful, as was hearing from the many varied traditions across local churches. And I appreciated the repetition of part of the Ordination prayer – a reminder that we are to

“reconcile what is divided, heal what is wounded and restore what is lost”

A tall order, a humbling charge. And we were also reminded of the full spectrum of approaches to personal confession across the Church of England –

“All may, some should, none must”
